About Us
The New York Independent Schools League (NYISL) was founded in 2011 by Michael Farina, Gregory Pinel and Christopher Rohner--three guys with a passion for the Beautiful Game and for improving the lives of young people. Our mission is to provide NYC high school students with a safe, fun and competitive soccer league in which to grow as athletes and individuals. We expect our coaches and players to place sportsmanship above winning, and to understand that playing soccer teaches important life skills, such as goal setting, teamwork, and having respect for your opponent.
The schools who compete in the NYISL all fit a basic profile:
Presently, our NYC parks field permit allows us to include 8 schools in the league. If your school is interested in joining the league and would like to be placed on a waiting list, please send us an email at [email protected].
Recognition/Awards
Since its inception, the NYISL has garnered much positive media attention, including a Red Bulls community service award and an NY1 feature story on one of our co-founders, Gregory Pinel. We are proud to be recognized for making positive contributions to our community, and we would like to thank all those who have volunteered their time along with us to make the NYISL possible.
